The Discovery Program is a character-building program that reminds students of the important lessons their parents have taught them but may need reinforcement. Discovery provides the opportunity for students to explore why it is important to be a lifelong learner while also investigating their own values and beliefs.
The Discovery process begins with a written response to prompts regarding topics such as integrity, honesty, leadership, success, failure, and priorities. This journaling portion follows Common Core writing standards and can be easily integrated in curriculum at every grade level. After journaling students and instructors share their thoughts, acting as a catalyst to meaningful discussion regarding important, often not discussed issues facing kids and teenagers today.
The Discovery program has positively changed relationships and classroom dynamics time and time again. It is an excellent tool for breaking down walls and building mutual respect, as Discovery provides a unique opportunity for realizing that despite our differences, we are all going through the same experiences.
